Take a walk with us!

Walking is the way many people get around in Beacon Hill.  With the arrival of the Link Light Rail and increasing number of shops and destinations, we believe more and more people will choose Beacon Hill as a destination to walk and bike.  On February 25 the public is invited to join the Beacon Hill Merchants Association and Feet First (a Seattle-based organization that promotes walkable communities) in a conversation and walk through much of North Beacon Hill’s commercial district to help identify ways to improve the pedestrian experience and connectivity to the north and south commercial areas.

Beacon Hill Walking Audit FlyerThis walk is part of a larger ongoing conversation with the Beacon Hill community to examine how to create a comprehensive transportation strategy will improve health and neighborhood vitality.  The walk will take about 90 minutes and will begin with a short presentation by Feet First to describe the purpose of the walk and how to contribute ideas.  If it’s raining, bring a poncho or umbrella as the walks will go rain or shine! Feet First will provide cameras and clipboards for notes.

The Saturday walk will begin at the corner of Beacon Ave and Spokane Street near the Fire Station at 1:00 pm and go until 2:30 pm. We will walk north from there, to many of the major crossings and intersections of the commercial area and end at the Link Light Rail station.

If you’d like to walk with us, or simply learn more about the project, please contact Angela at the Beacon Hill Merchants Association: info@beaconbusinessalliance.org, or call 206-459-1430.
