You may be aware we’ve got over 9,000 square feet of commercial space coming to Beacon Hill in the next couple of years due to new projects going up. A focus for BHMA is how we advocate for existing and legacy businesses to stay in the mix, even as external forces push us toward big change. In 2017 we have seen a bit of musical chairs, and can celebrate also a bit of new, like the soft openings for both Cucumber Lemonade and The Wine Station. For a real feel of the neighborhood you really should find time in your week to visit our community businesses!

We hope you’ll visit Shaka at Cucumber Lemonade, located at 2548 Beacon Ave. S., 98144 (shop hours are Thu-Sat 11am-4pm and are posted on the website).Shaka’s shop features unique and lovely ART | HOME | KITCHEN items handsomely arranged in the small retail space next door south of the old La Bendición, where currently Salon Nouveau is operating while a Nouveau/Perihelion ‘reorg’ takes place (Perihelion will expand into the SW corner of the building along Beacon Ave. S.) and the salon’s entry will move one door south. We hear it’ll be awhile before permits are in place for that project to get started, so likely Salon Nouveau will continue at their current site through summer. Another cool-beans opening is The Wine Station at 2533 16th Ave. South, 98144.  Of course, if you are a longtime Beacon Hill resident and/or coffee drinker you likely recognize this address to be the original site of Luis and Leona’s Station Coffee Shop. When we stopped by Sunday 10/15, for their soft opening, the place was packed (maybe thanks in part to the review posted by Seattle Eater on 10/12). Follow them on Facebook @thewinestationseattle to learn schedule and menu details …and hmmmm, since both businesses are owned by the same family we can all say together, “cool beans and grapes!” More musical chairs: Yoga enthusiasts have already transitioned with Yobe to their new location inside the old Fioravanti clothing shop at 3063 Beacon Ave. S. (fans can follow Mia and Wisdom’s evolving online presence here: www.miafioravanti.com), but what about the new paint we are seeing on the old place? We’ve learned via Beacon Hill resident, Sara Knowles, property owners are spearheading a facelift of the building while working with prospective tenants toward a win-win for the neighborhood. Sara says she and her husband are working diligently to secure space and both are excited to live and work in the neighborhood. If all goes well they will open late summer 2018.
