Beacon Hill Historic Preservation Coalition invites businesses to join a fundraiser to Save Garden House…

Beacon Hill Merchants Association is a member of Beacon Hill Historic Preservation Coalition which aims to save the historic Garden House and keep it in the community. If you’re not already aware of this initiative, now is a great time to get up to speed and get involved. Restaurateurs, we hope you’ll consider supporting the effort with a pledge to join with other local restaurants to raise funds for this project!

Proposed fundraiser:

A one-day, Dine Out event throughout Beacon Hill to raise awareness and money to protect this Beacon Hill treasure, community space, and green space. This property was gifted with the stipulation that it could not be used as a non-commercial space to the current owners, who turned around and had that stipulation removed, and put it up for sale last week! These folks do not live in our community, therefore they’re unaware of the value of the historic structure and its green space to the community. The coalition will promote this event far and wide and will provide printed materials and info to be posted at your business. We are asking for a pledge of 5–10% of your daily sales. Proceeds will go to a secure fund for Beacon Arts’ Save Garden House Project and your donations are tax deductible.

Where will the money go:

The funds raised will go toward costs associated with acquiring Landmark Status for this historic property and professional services to preserve the site intact as an historic cultural center for the Beacon Hill community. These efforts, spearheaded by Beacon Arts—a local arts council and 8-year tenant—will ensure this property will not be torn down or become a private and/or commercial-use space rather than the not-for-profit community commodity that is its legacy.

Proposed date:

Wednesday, September 26th

Businesses pledged so far:

Bar del Corso (10%), Tippe and Drague Alehouse (10%), Perihelion Brewery (10%), The Station Coffee Shop, and Oak restaurant To join these generous restaurants in what is sure to be a fabulous community event, email us at info@beaconbusinessalliance.org and Beacon Hill Merchants Association will connect you to the cause.

Thank you for helping the community!
