The Beacon Hill Merchants Association believes in the power of community. We actively produce and co-sponsor events to serve our membership, improve connectivity between stakeholders, and attract foot traffic onto our sidewalks and into our local establishments. Our quarterly business luncheon is hosted in neighborhood businesses and invites home and retail business owners to the table, to give a presentation and/or sponsor raffle gifts. Our signature event, Beacon Art Walkabout, in partnership with Beacon Arts and local businesses and organizations on the hill, has included: live music, an outdoor art market, food trucks at Stevens Place Park, Free pedicab rides up and down Beacon Avenue, and art exhibited in over 25 businesses on Beacon Ave South.
Examples of events we have founded and implemented include the a precursor to the Beacon Art Walkabout, the Beacon Boogie (2010-2012), and the Jefferson Park Jubilee (2012-2014), an annual event founded by the Merchants Association, featuring music, food and fun in our local park. Jefferson Park is an amazing resource for our community that can provide a link between the north and south nodes of our business district (ongoing, the Jefferson Park Community Center does a fabulous job with the Beacon Festival, taking place annually, during the first weekend of June).
In November, 2018, we hosted Shop Seattle Gems, a first for Beacon Hill. Read more about the event here.
Past BHMA sponsored events: Posada/Holiday tree lighting, Beacon Rocks!, Beacon Food Forest Ground Making Day, Kimball Art Walk, and more.
