On Saturday, November 24, from 11 AM 5 PM, we invite the Beacon Hill community to “Shop Seattle Gems”

Event Details:  DJ WD4D will provide the soundtrack to live painting by Crick Lont (aka Dozer), artisan merchants and food vendors, Virtual Reality demos by Immersive Square, a “Gem Hunt” where folx will search Beacon Hill businesses for “gems” and win prizes, a raffle for locally-sourced goods, and more!

Note: The gem hunt will take place as far south as Day Moon Press and as far north as Baja Bistro & Lioe’s Automotive.

What was that again? Shop Seattle Gems Pop-Up Festival!

Where? Plaza Roberto Maestas & Festival Street (by Link light rail on Beacon Hill)

Beacon Hill Merchants (soon to be Beacon Business Alliance) is supporting a city-wide campaign to promote local “gems”—the small businesses that make Seattle great—and we’re hosting a Shop Seattle Gems pop-up festival on Sat., Nov. 24 (11 Am – 5 PM) on Roberto Maestas Festival St & Plaza with food and artisan vendors, live painting, VR demos, a DJ, raffle, and more. Please take note of our new brand/name change to “Beacon Business Alliance.” You’ll see the new logo on event materials and members will experience the official roll out at our holiday party, 12/15! (We hope you will be there too!)
Now! Back to the business at hand: There are many ways local businesses can get involved! Beacon Hill shops / business owners, artists, and more are encouraged to participate by doing any or all of the following:
1. Share virtual campaign posts— Videos, trivia, photo contest images, and more. Add a personal touch! Include trivia and anecdotes about yourselves and your business when sharing. Share pics of your shop in action and more to bring the campaign to the heart of you and your business. It’s on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram. (Follow @SeattleEconomy on same for the latest city-wide Seattle Gems fun.) RSVP to the Shop Seattle Gems Pop-Up Festival and Gem Scavenger Hunt & share too!
2. Get on the banners— We’re hanging big canvas banners at Beacon Ave. S. and S. McClellan and want to include your business logo! (Logo size and placement TBD. We can work with you on this.)
3. Hang posters and tell people about the event— We’ll bring you gorgeous, full-color posters to hang (see attached!). You can help spread the word by talking to customers, neighbors, and friends about the festival and virtual campaign.
3. Get in on the fun on Sat., Nov. 24!— If you have a storefront on Beacon Ave S. between S. Spokane St. & S. Bayview, we may drop off some balloons on festival day to encourage festival attendees to visit your shop to search for “gems.” Only five businesses will be “gem keepers” and have been determined. Those businesses will award a prize to gem finders, but no one will know where the gems are or how to win the prizes! Event-goers will receive a walking map and will be encouraged to visit any and all shops up and down the north Beacon business district corridor to shop, read menus, talk to staff, purchase items, sit down and have a drink or meal, etc. in the hope of being the lucky gem finders! All you have to do is do what you do at your shop. Don’t tell people you don’t have the gem, just encourage them to check out your shop, your services, or even buy something and wish them good luck in finding “gems.” 🙂
4. Contribute items toward prizes— In addition to the gem hunt prizes, we’ll host a raffle at the festival. We’re asking local businesses to contribute items toward all possible prizes and will promote contributing businesses in a variety of ways:
  • We’ll highlight you on our social media channels
  • Ensure your logo inclusion on the canvas banners (these will stay up through December!)
  • Include a special “thank you” / contributor list along with the prizes that lists your business name, contribution(s), business phone and address, and hours of operation to encourage prize winners to visit your business.
  • We’ll also prominently display this list at our welcome/info booth at the festival and talk you up! (Ideas for contributions: gift certificates of $5 or more, 2-for-1 coupons, swag (like t-shirts, stickers, glassware, a bag of coffee, etc.). Get creative, these items should represent you!
Let us know ASAP if you or your business would like to participate—and at what level—and we’ll walk you through the process. It’s as easy as saying “I’m in!
